WHAT’S MOST SATISFIYING ABOUT BEING A HIDDEN FENCE PROFESSIONAL OF THE LOCKYER VALLEY AND TOOWOOMBA?
As a professional I am more than satisfied that our pet containment system produces satisfying results every time. Seeing and knowing that pets are secured safely and, owners are happy with the results gives me the greatest satisfaction and peace of mind. I am happy to be a part of Hidden Fence, a fencing system when combined with our professional installation and training methods enables success always.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE BREED OF DOG TO TRAIN TO AN ELECTRONIC DOG FENCE CONTAINMENT SYSTEM, AND WHY.
To be honest I don’t have a favourite dog. I feel that all dogs have a special purpose, weather as a companion, a worker, or, a guard. But as far as training goes I personally prefer kelpies or border collies, I find that although they are active dogs and love to go flat out, they have a real capacity to understand and deal with problems.
With the majority that I have trained they seem to have a clear understanding of the training protocol, and respect their boundaries. In saying that, I have had success in training with all other dogs, some may just need a little more help than others.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE HIDDEN FENCE DOG CONTAINMENT SYSTEM TO USE IN THE FIELD, AND WHY?
Super Dog System; I find this system to be near bomb proof. With the PT4 transmitter it has more than enough power to deal with any large property, and is still a compact enough unit to go on the wall, or under a floor in an inner city application. It also has the LED distance signal that lets you know the exact position of the boundary signal. Coupled together with the performance series receivers this is a unit that can be finely adjusted to suit any animal or situation that may arise.
DO YOU HAVE A GOOD STORY TO SHARE ABOUT CONTAINING A CUSTOMERS PET?
Every story is good I don’t have any exceptional ones. To know that when I leave at the end of the day and these pets and owners are happy and safe that’s why I do this. It’s all about the people and their pets I find the look on people’s faces at the end of the job to be a story each time.
WHAT’S THE HARDEST INSTALL YOU'VE ENCOUNTERED?
This would be an install that my partner and myself did in Maleny. It was a large property, in fact 105 acres. The day we arrived to start the install it was raining heavily. We started the fence at about 6.30am and continued in the pouring rain until around 4pm, all this time moving from paddock to paddock via gates that only ran down a centre spine on the property.
Instead of being able to just run a wire along a single boundary we had to stop on every paddock fence dig under and, thread the wire through, refill the groove that we just dug, go back to the centre spine, along it to the next gate go in and then repeat it all again. We did this for about the first 30 acres. When we got to open ground we thought it would get a bit better, but we were wrong.
The large paddocks had several creeks to cross and a large amount of rock to dig through. So we returned to the same job the following day, unfortunately so did the rain. We completed the job in a total of 22 hrs over 2 days, with 3 large creek crossings, 120mils of rain. But at the end of it all we stood in the rain, turned on the fence, and it worked.
